Comic strips

Cast multiple characters in a comic strip, in the art style of your choice. Pick your cast, describe the story, and SteadyShot plans the panels and draws the whole strip as one page, with speech bubbles and captions included.

What you get

  • A single comic page with 3, 4 or 6 panels, drawn in one pass so every character looks like themselves in every panel.
  • Speech bubbles and narration captions lettered into the art, plus a per-panel caption list below the page.
  • An AI-planned script: a shared setting, a locked outfit for each character, and a shot (close-up, wide, and so on) for each panel.
  • Optional brand context: pick a brand kit and its logo and product shots are used as references so the brand shows up correctly in the strip.

From the UI

  1. Go to Comics in the sidebar → + New comic strip.
  2. Pick up to 2 locked characters to star in it.
  3. Give it a title and describe the story in a sentence or two.
  4. Choose a style and the number of panels (3, 4 or 6).
  5. Optionally pick a brand kit, then click Generate. The page refreshes on its own while the strip renders, which usually takes 1–2 minutes.

Styles

  • Classic American — bold inks, halftone shading, saturated color.
  • Manga (B&W) — black-and-white manga with screentones.
  • European (ligne claire) — clean lines and flat color.
  • Indie webcomic — scratchy, personal, muted colors.
  • Sunday newspaper — cartoony and playful.

From the API

The API accepts up to 3 characters and 3–8 panels (default 5). It returns right away with status: "generating". Poll the comic until it’s ready or failed.

    "character_ids": ["<kai-id>", "<lolita-id>"],
    "style_preset": "classic_american",
    "page_count": 3
  }'

style_preset is one of classic_american, manga_bw, european_tintin, indie_webcomic or newspaper_sunday. Pass brand_kit_id to add brand context.

Cost

1 credit per panel, charged when you click Generate. If the strip fails to render, those credits are refunded automatically and you can retry from the comic’s page.

Keep the cast small. The whole page is drawn in one image with up to 4 reference images, and each character uses one. With a brand kit, 1–2 characters leaves room for the logo and product references. More characters also make it harder to keep everyone on-model.
